Project Designer | Leslie Bates-Reich

Leslie Bates-ReichMeet Leslie Bates-Reich, the newest addition to the dynamic Motawi design team! Leslie started her career at Motawi in 2015 as a bulb glazer. She made the switch to the design team in October 2016.

Leslie's professional background is in custom costume design and theatrical design. She holds a BFA in Theatrical Design and Production from the University of Michigan. Leslie says her favorite thing about working at Motawi is getting to see and be inspired by her amazing co-workers' creativity.

Her personal style is definitely whimsical, but in the best sense! There are so many colors, styles and influences that make her smile, and she says that one of her great joys is bringing unexpected pairings together. Her home has a heavy Mission influence which she's combined with unconventional personal touches, such as striped painted thresholds and bright pops of more modern art.

Leslie favors designing installation projects that feature bold or unexpected color combinations. She loves putting together palettes that may seem wild but end up complementing each other and the space perfectly.

When she's not designing projects, Leslie works with greyhound rescue groups and she has two of her own adorable greyhounds, Jade and Ozzie. She is also an avid puzzler, but tries not to mix the two hobbies. The dogs say they are great puzzlers, but she's yet to see any proof of it.
