Project Designer | Julie Johnson

Meet Julie Johnson! Julie came to Motawi in 2012 as the gallery manager and moved into the role of Project Designer in 2014. After earning her BS in Interior Design from Eastern Michigan University, Julie spent the early years of her career in retail store design and project management.

One of the things Julie likes most about working at Motawi is the creative people she gets to surround herself with every day. Julie says that one of the great things about her job is that there is a wide variety of styles and designs that our clients are looking for in their layouts. She says she appreciates that one day she may work on a classic Arts & Crafts designed fireplace for a century old house with the goal to create a design that looks like it has always been there and the next design is a collage pattern full of mid-century modern charm and birds from our Charley Harper collection with pops of bold color.

During her free time, Julie is an avid birder and is studying to become a Master Gardener. Her birding claim to fame is on one recent birding trip in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, she happened upon a rare Boreal owl after trudging through waist deep snow to find him!
