Recently, our Fifth Edition Installation Tile Catalog was released. In it are several new tile designs, new glaze colors and new photographs of gorgeous installations. One of our new tile designs has quite an Ann Arbor story; meet Footlights.
When Ann Arbor's iconic State Theatre was threatened by a wrecking ball, local leaders stepped in to preserve and restore this 75-year-old Art Deco jewel. Fortunately, their vision included incorporating a Motawi tile installation. Our team was involved in the design process right from the start.
Nawal Motawi was inspired by the streamlined details of the original theater to create a unique Art Deco tile designed specifically for the State Theatre. When the restored cinema reopens, our Footlights Border will be one of the stars of the updated concession lounge. Adorning the walls and floor of a prominent drinking fountain niche, these leading ladies are ready for their close-up!
