This position is full-time Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM -5:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM starting at $17.50 (compensation is based upon experience and ability).

Position Summary:

The Shipping Generalist’s primary function is to support the shipping department in all tasks such as packaging, quality control material management and ordering, freight shipment, crate building and logistics coordination. This position will also cross train to support multiple production functions within the Tileworks such as tile trimming, kiln loading, allocation and glazing. All members of our production team are expected to assist with the tasks at hand that may be outside the normal day-to-day tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive freight/packages, quality check, load and unload raw materials and finished goods. 
  • Implement quality control procedures and maintain high quality standards for all products.
  • Perform quality checks, pick, package/prepare and ship orders.
  • Organize work areas and perform weekly cleaning duties.
  • Assist in keeping finished goods inventory organized and accurate.
  • Must understand and adhere to standardized processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Related Duties:

  • Assist with loading and unloading the kilns, mixing glaze, waxing and dipping tiles.
  • Perform miscellaneous maintenance projects.
  • Participate in presentations during public tours. 

Hours/Schedule: 40 hours per week. Monday – Friday. 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Work Environment: This is a manufacturing environment with loud noises and some exposure to dust and the natural environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; and communicate verbally.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or maintain balance.
  • The employee frequently needs to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds and frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic math and computer skills with knowledge of business software (Word/Excel).
  • At least one (1) year of work experience.
  • Organized, detail oriented and thrive doing repetitive work in a fluctuating environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to troubleshoot, make suggestions and solve problems.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility, multi-task and quickly change focus/priorities.
  • Ability to get along with others and demonstrate a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in shipping and packing fragile goods.
  • Experience in a distribution center or production-related environment.
  • Knowledge of e-commerce shipping processes.
