Textile Block Tile
In 1923, Frank Lloyd Wright pioneered a unique method of building construction— the
Textile Block System—in which concrete blocks were molded in unique
designs, then joined with steel reinforcing rods to form
elegant interior and exterior walls.
Over the course of his career, Wright constructed several distinctive homes using this system, including the Storer (below), Ennis and Millard (above left) houses in Los Angeles. Motawi Tileworks has adapted these three timeless designs into relief tile that can be used in fireplace or other installations. For details and photos of Textile Block tile installations, see our companion installation website.
