Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933), the son of jeweler Charles Tiffany, is known for his fine glass work.
Tiffany originally created leaded-glass windows and then expanded his designs to lamps. The Black-Eyed Susan tile is derived from a lampshade that hung in Tiffany's own Long Island home. The lamp is on permanent exhibit in The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art in Winter Park, Florida.
