3x3 Dog - Facing Right

  • These animal tiles in relief are some of the first tiles ever made by Motawi. The designs come from medieval England and were originally made using the encaustic technique, for which the tile is flat and the design is rendered in two colors of clay.

The dog tile resembles our old canine friend Emmet, who spent many years at work with us and bore a remarkable resemblance to the dog on the tile.

    Actual tile size: 2-13/16" square

Tiles are 5/8" thick and have a notch at the back for hanging.

  • Motawi polychrome tiles are striking individual art pieces as much as functional tile installation accents. We’re told that our tiles will give you serious cred in gift-giving circles. And each one is made by hand and with heart in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

We embrace variation and handmade beauty. The bold heft of each Motawi tile reveals serious craftsmanship. And our time-honored hand-glazing methods produce a nuanced range of color with depth and translucence.
