These tiles are adapted from a concrete block design by Mr. Wright for the Alice Millard House, also known as "La Miniatura". The residence, constructed in 1923 in Pasadena, California was unlike any in the world at the time. Mr. Wright used a unique method of building construction, weaving decorative blocks of concrete together with reinforced steel rods. It came to be known as the Textile Block System.
