These tiles are adapted from a presentation drawing which Mr. Wright submitted to Liberty magazine as one of twelve cover designs in 1927. Although not published at the time, Mr. Wright later modified it for use as a carpet design. Today, it is considered to be the most popular of all the Liberty covers and an outstanding example of asymmetrical composition.

"Cuenca" is the Spanish word for "little pools." Our polychrome tiles are created in the Cuenca Style, with raised white lines. The valleys between the lines create the little pools. Using a bulb syringe, our artisans fill each little pool with a glaze color.
